Autumn changes the rhythm and colour of the landscape in subtle ways. In this heavy body acrylic painting by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon, the fading warmth of the season creates a quieter backdrop where branches, muted foliage, and small movements within the forest become more noticeable. The layered earth tones and softened contrasts reflect the transition from late autumn into the stillness of winter.

In autumn we see our environment shed its lush summer vibrancy, transitioning to a muted palette as it prepares for a long winter rest. It seems that many of our feathered friends that stick around also transition to a more muted costume as well. This scene change from bountiful foliage to linear woody backdrop provides a perfect stage for watching your favourite birds hop around. Concentrated with earth tones, this piece is rich in ochre browns, burnt sienna, with subtle hints of teal and orange throughout.
