Leaves twisting through the wind and the sudden intensity of autumn colour shape this original heavy body acrylic painting by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon. Deep reds and flashes of orange move across the composition against a darker evergreen backdrop, capturing both the energy and fleeting beauty that arrive with the changing season.

As the leaves change colour and drift to the ground, I can’t help but be inspired by the beauty of autumn. Each day, I venture outside to take in the changing scenery and to collect images as inspiration for my latest paintings. I’ve always loved autumn the crisp air, the beautiful colours, and the feeling of happiness that comes with knowing that winter is just around the corner. This year, I’m determined to capture all of that magic in my paintings. The painting titled “Captivating” shows some of the deep reds with the hands of orange against dark green evergreen background. I try to capture the movement of the leaves as they twist in the wind.
