Ta slika je nastala iz občutka, za katerega mislim, da ga večina od nas razume. Življenje lahko včasih postane težko, bodisi zaradi stvari, ki se dogajajo okoli nas, bodisi zaradi dogajanja v našem življenju, in zlahka izgubimo izpred oči, kaj leži onkraj tistega trenutka. Na tej sliki se zdi, kot da nevihta obdaja otok, voda je nemirna, nebo pa deluje temno in tesnobno. Toda v samem središču vsega je otok obsijan s svetlobo. Drevesa rastejo skupaj na nečem, kar je komaj več kot skala, z zelo malo prsti pod seboj, in v tem vidim izjemno moč. Izpostavljena so, obdana z vseh strani, a še vedno stojijo in v nekaterih primerih celo uspevajo.

Zame je »Light Always Breaks Through« opomnik, da tema nikoli ne predstavlja celotne slike. Težka obdobja lahko zavzamejo toliko naše pozornosti, da zlahka pozabimo, da onkraj njih še vedno obstaja upanje.
