This year, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, eco-enthusiasts around the world found a new way to express their love for the planet. Between April 20 and 26, WWF invited our supporters to create artwork expressing the value of nature and its meaning in their lives, and then share their art on social media channels using the hashtag #ArtForEarth. In just one week, contributors ranging from New Yorker cartoonists to school-aged children shared 16,000 posts across Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, showcasing their incredible creativity and the power of nature to connect us all. Here are just a few of our favourites from Instagram.
This image, from the painting entitled #100 - “Dancing With the Lion” depicted in the image, was inspired by the fierce determination of lions to protect their loved ones. The lion's unwavering bravery in the face of danger serves as a reminder of the powerful bond within a family.
