当我创作《夜林》时，我想到的是森林的自然循环，以及当火灾发生在适当的地方时，火如何成为这一循环的一部分。在适宜的条件下，火会清除老旧植被，将养分返还土壤，并为新生命重新开始腾出空间。有些树木，包括某些松树，甚至依靠火焰的高温来打开球果、释放种子。与此同时，我知道森林火灾并不只是画作中的一个概念。它们会带来真实的损失、烟雾、恐惧与毁灭，而世界各地也有男男女女冒着生命危险与之搏斗。我希望这幅画能够承载这种张力：火焰的力量与危险，以及自然世界中可能存在的变化、更新与韧性。
