This is a unique piece from me as it is one of the few paintings completed with white lines instead of black. The owl has a strong sense of peace and calm about its expression, and this softness is mirrored in its delicate figure and the titan cream colours of its plumage. The colour palate used for this painting is soft and comforting. The background is mottled and calm, lending focus to the owl. Possibly the most captivating part of the painting is the contrasting charcoal black colour of the owl’s eyes. For any pieces including white details, I prefers to use titanium white paint because of its striking hyper white pigment, which is milky and very opaque.

Jeff Dillon the Canadian Artist, inspired by the bold colours and brush strokes of Post-Impressionist Artists. His unique style focuses on capturing light, not through the detail of realism, but with gesture, illusion, shape and colour. He offers a personal and distinctive style to the world through his bold use of colours and lines, often symbolic images or subject matter. Objects in the paintings retain their realistic appearance yet have a vibrancy and fluidity about them, unique to his work. Jeff Dillon’s new expression of Post-Impressionism is both beloved and revered in the Canadian and Global Contemporary Art World.
