I'm Jeff Dillon, a Canadian artist based in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. To me, Canada has never been one landscape or one story. It is a country shaped by many cultures, histories and communities, set within an extraordinary range of natural environments. Having lived in several provinces and travelled across the country, I have seen how distinct each region can be and how every one of them contributes to our shared sense of home. That connection between people and place has shaped who I am and continues to shape the way I paint. Canada's forests, lakes, mountains, wildlife and northern skies are more than subjects in my work; they are part of how I understand the country I call home.

Where the Work Is Made

I create every original painting myself in my Kitchener studio, from developing the composition and applying each layer of heavy body acrylic paint through to the final varnish. Every original is entirely my own work. My limited-edition prints are produced entirely in Canada by high-end Canadian fine art printers and skilled production specialists. Canvas prints are printed, stretched and assembled in Vancouver, British Columbia, while museum-quality paper and gloss metal prints are produced in Ottawa, Ontario. Calendars and selected printed materials are produced in Waterloo, Ontario. When an original painting requires a custom shipping crate, it is designed and built in Waterloo Region. Some materials used in my paintings and prints come from outside Canada, but all the work required to turn them into finished originals and limited editions takes place here.

Canadian Businesses and Materials

I use Canadian suppliers and Canadian-made products whenever I can, but quality comes first. Certain specialized materials are sourced internationally because they have proven reliable for professional fine art. My wooden canvas stretcher bars are manufactured in Quebec. I use Golden Artist Colors paints produced in New Berlin, New York, Escoda brushes made in Barcelona, professional canvas manufactured in the Guelph, Ontario and museum-grade paper produced in Relliehausen, Dassel, Germany. Gamblin Gamvar is used as the final protective varnish on my original paintings. When someone purchases an original painting, they are supporting my Canadian studio and the Canadian businesses through which I source materials and services. A limited-edition print also supports the Canadian printers, canvas stretchers, print technicians, packaging suppliers and other professionals responsible for producing the finished piece.
