यह पेंटिंग उस भावना से प्रेरित है, जिसे समझना शायद हममें से अधिकांश के लिए आसान है। जीवन कभी-कभी बहुत बोझिल हो सकता है, चाहे इसकी वजह हमारे आसपास घट रही घटनाएँ हों या हमारे अपने जीवन की परिस्थितियाँ, और उस क्षण से आगे क्या है, यह देख पाना आसान नहीं रहता। इस कृति में तूफ़ान द्वीप को चारों ओर से घेरता हुआ लगता है, पानी अशांत है और आकाश अँधेरा व बेचैन महसूस होता है। फिर भी, इस सबके केंद्र में द्वीप रोशन है। पेड़ लगभग केवल चट्टान पर उग रहे हैं, उनके नीचे बहुत कम मिट्टी है, और मुझे उनमें निहित दृढ़ता बहुत पसंद है। वे खुले में हैं, चारों ओर से घिरे हुए हैं, फिर भी खड़े हैं और कुछ मामलों में फल-फूल भी रहे हैं।
