カナダ人アーティスト、ジェフ・ディロンによる風景画である本作品は、近づきつつある嵐を背景に佇む大草原の農家を描いたオリジナル作品です。キャンバスにヘビーボディアクリル絵具で制作され、重なり合う筆致、大気感、コントラストを際立たせながら、変化するカナディアン・プレーリーの気候の強さを表現しています。

プレーリーで農作業に従事するには、予測なく変化する環境の中で、忍耐力と自然界との深い結びつきが求められます。暗くなりつつある空の下、遠くで嵐の雲が集まる中に、一軒の農家がぽつんと佇んでいます。一筋の稲妻が大気を切り裂き、穏やかな前景が上空で増していく激しさと対比をなしています。静けさと力強さの狭間に宙づりになった一瞬を捉えた作品です。
