Here we see Emerald Lake in British Columbia. The sky above is full of looming dark clouds, but there is still a jovial and lighthearted feeling to the scene. The clouds look as though they could open up at any moment and the lush green appearance of the forest suggests the area receives plenty of rainfall. The moody quality of the sky and mountain range is contrasted by the soft nature of the calm blue water and dainty white flowers in the foreground. This painting is concentrated with layers of paynes grey, chromium oxide green, teal and titanium white. Subtle highlights of naples yellow, violet and pyrrole orange lend added dimension to the canvas.

Jeff Dillon the Canadian Artist, inspired by the bold colours and brush strokes of Post-Impressionist Artists. His unique style focuses on capturing light, not through the detail of realism, but with gesture, illusion, shape and colour. He offers a personal and distinctive style to the world through his bold use of colours and lines, often symbolic images or subject matter. Objects in the paintings retain their realistic appearance yet have a vibrancy and fluidity about them, unique to his work. Jeff Dillon’s new expression of Post-Impressionism is both beloved and revered in the Canadian and Global Contemporary Art World.
