پاییز ریتم و رنگ‌مایهٔ منظره را به شیوه‌هایی ظریف تغییر می‌دهد. در این نقاشی اکریلیک با خمیررنگ سنگین از هنرمند کانادایی Jeff Dillon، گرمای رو به افول فصل پس‌زمینه‌ای آرام‌تر می‌سازد؛ جایی که شاخه‌ها، شاخ‌وبرگ‌های کم‌رنگ و جنبش‌های کوچک درون جنگل بیشتر به چشم می‌آیند. لایه‌های رنگ‌های خاکی و کنتراست‌های ملایم، گذار از اواخر پاییز به سکون زمستان را بازتاب می‌دهند.

در پاییز می‌بینیم که محیط اطرافمان سرزندگی شاداب تابستانی خود را از دست می‌دهد و در آماده‌شدن برای استراحتی طولانی در زمستان، به پالتی خاموش‌تر تغییر می‌کند. به نظر می‌رسد بسیاری از دوستان پردارمان که در اینجا می‌مانند نیز پوشش خود را به رنگ‌هایی ملایم‌تر تغییر می‌دهند. این تغییر صحنه، از شاخ‌وبرگ فراوان به پس‌زمینه‌ای خطی و چوبین، صحنه‌ای عالی برای تماشای جست‌وخیز پرندگان موردعلاقه‌تان فراهم می‌کند. این اثر با تمرکز بر رنگ‌های خاکی، سرشار از قهوه‌ای‌های اخرایی و سینای سوخته است و در سراسر آن رگه‌هایی ظریف از سبزآبی و نارنجی دیده می‌شود.
