A lush summer scene, featuring High Falls on the Pigeon River in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. The waterfall in this painting marks the point where the river makes a final drop before it becomes Lake Superior and part of the Great Lakes system. Black linework is used to detail the meandering and organic rock forms of the falls. Slate and titan buff pigments are tinted with titanium white to detail the current of the river as it spills over the edge. You can sense the contours of rock hidden behind the flow of water which in some places barely trickles down the wall. Framing the falls, we see abundant vegetation which is detailed in shades of vibrant green pigments.

Jeff Dillon the Canadian Artist, inspired by the bold colours and brush strokes of Post-Impressionist Artists. His unique style focuses on capturing light, not through the detail of realism, but with gesture, illusion, shape and colour. He offers a personal and distinctive style to the world through his bold use of colours and lines, often symbolic images or subject matter. Objects in the paintings retain their realistic appearance yet have a vibrancy and fluidity about them, unique to his work. Jeff Dillon’s new expression of Post-Impressionism is both beloved and revered in the Canadian and Global Contemporary Art World.
