About the Painting
It’s hard to imagine the inner workings of a beloved companion’s mind, or what they may be perceiving in the world around them. When you watch an animal interact with the natural environment, it seems as though their senses are alight with information flowing in from the sights and sounds around them. Their view of the world must be so brilliant.
The composition of this painting led me towards saturated pigments of teal, magenta and violet. Carbon and white pigments were used to softly tint or add shadow to these vibrant colours. Yellow, red, green, and orange pigments were applied to the tree line in the distance; this departure from the rest of the palette reinvigorates the eye and ties the tree line with the swimming soft pink sky above.
