Some autumn colours feel almost impossible to hold onto once the season begins to change. In this original heavy body acrylic painting, Canadian artist Jeff Dillon explores the warmth of yellow, amber, and golden leaves at their peak, using layered texture and shifting colour to preserve the brief intensity of fall before it disappears again.

This painting I created is to represent all of the yellow, amber, and golden colours at this time of year. I always forget how beautiful the tones in the yellows autumn leaves are. Painting allows me to capture a moment in time that can be enjoy forever, especially when it’s of something as fleeting as autumn leaves. Every year they come out and delight us with their beauty, but only for a very short time before they are gone again. Painting them helps me to hold onto that bit of magic for just a little bit longer.
