A quiet wildlife moment within the Canadian landscape, this original painting by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon captures a young cardinal along a rural fence line. Built in heavy body acrylic on canvas, the work focuses on presence, seasonal change, and the subtle relationship between bird, environment, and movement.

Bouncing to and from each home looking for the food often laid out by his cooing human admirers. This cardinal expression looks soft and interested, he’s sitting on a fence line waiting for his onlooker to leave him and his mate some seeds. His guard is down only for a moment. Sharing the canvas with the songbird, we see a mottled cobalt green background and rugged wooden fence. The young spring cardinal is developing his first plumage, carrying a sense of curiosity and early-season energy.

The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity is also hand-signed and numbered by the artist.
