Moving quietly through the water, the goldfish in this heavy body acrylic painting by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon is shaped through layered movement and warm reflective colour. The flowing brushwork gives the fish a calm presence while allowing the shifting gold and orange tones to remain luminous against the surrounding space.

Many of us have had the chance to observe a goldfish, as they are commonly given to children as their first companion. Goldfish are a close relative to the carp, and thrive in schools, swimming in slow moving murky water with dense vegetation. This golden fish is detailed in brush strokes of rich golden tones, warm oranges, subtle reds, and soft yellow highlights.

The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity is also hand-signed and numbered by the artist.
