Curious and energetic by nature, chickadees rarely stay still for long. In this heavy body acrylic painting by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon, the bird pauses only briefly, turning its attention back toward the viewer before disappearing again into motion. Soft atmospheric tones surround the figure while layered brushwork and warm earthy colour bring quiet life and personality to the scene.

Oh the ever curious chickadee, ready to swoop in and inspect what you’re up to. They are eager companions, always brave and willing to approach for the chance of receiving a few seeds from your palm.
