The final days of winter often carry a quiet sense of anticipation as frozen landscapes slowly begin to move again. In this original heavy body acrylic painting, Canadian artist Jeff Dillon captures the moment an icy river starts to break apart, allowing flowing water and the first hints of spring to return to the landscape.

Winter is coming to a close and the icy river is breaking up. The water is starting to flow again and there is an eagerness for spring revival in the air. Cool layered tones throughout the river, shoreline, and surrounding atmosphere help communicate the calm stillness of the lingering cold while subtle movement within the water hints at the seasonal transition underway.

The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity is also hand-signed and numbered by the artist.
