Some autumn landscapes feel almost illuminated from within. The shoreline glows with warmth, the forest deepens in intensity, and the cool stillness of the water heightens the contrast even further. Painted in heavy body acrylic on canvas, this original work by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon explores the brief period when fall colour reaches its peak across the northern landscape.

When the warm colours of autumn take over a once emerald green forest, it’s hard to capture the true vibrancy you experience firsthand. It appears like the sun has lent the forest some of its intensity and the leaves shine in striking colours of crimson red, pyrrole orange, magenta and nickel azo gold. Contrasted with the cool body of water, this fiery horizon is stunning and a reminder of the beauty of our changing seasons.
