Resting quietly within a nest of woven grasses and wheat, the Barn Owl in this original heavy body acrylic painting by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon emerges through the softened atmosphere of a foggy morning. Layered feather textures, muted earth tones, and the pale illuminated face of the owl create a calm but watchful presence within the composition.

Perched on a nest of intertwined grass and wheat, we see the elegant form of a Barn Owl. Interestingly, and despite its striking image, the Barn Owl does not defend its territory like other owls. Instead, the Barn Owl returns to a zone referred to as its “home range”. The home range is where they roost, hunt, and raise their young.

The owl sits against the backdrop of a foggy morning, where soft atmospheric transitions create a quiet sense of depth behind the figure. The wing feathers are built through layered warm earth tones and subtle variations in texture, while softened highlights help the owl’s face emerge gently against the darker plumage. Set against these lighter feathers, the owl’s dark eyes hold a subtle glimmer that draws the viewer inward.
The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity is also hand-signed and numbered by the artist.
