Created in support of humanitarian relief efforts during the Ukraine crisis, this original heavy body acrylic painting by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon reflects themes of solidarity, resilience, and hope through the symbolic colours of the Ukrainian flag and the enduring presence of sunflowers across the landscape. The movement of the sky and flowing field were composed to carry both emotional weight and a sense of unity during a time of uncertainty and displacement.

Thank you in helping the people of Ukraine.

Result: On May 10, 2022, this campaign raised and donated $19,000 for the UNHCR Ukraine Crisis, thank you.

The United Nations stated that as of May 5, 2022, more than 12 million people were believed to have fled their homes in Ukraine since the conflict began. Over 5.7 million people had crossed into neighbouring countries, while millions more were displaced within Ukraine itself. In response to the growing humanitarian crisis, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees expanded operations throughout Ukraine and surrounding regions to support those seeking safety and refuge.

All net profit raised from February through May 2022 from the original painting and limited edition prints titled “Solidarity” were donated to the UNHCR Ukraine appeal.

The landscape painting symbolizes the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag, while the sunflowers represent Ukraine’s national flower. More than anything, this piece was created as a visual expression of support, compassion, and solidarity with the Ukrainian people and their extraordinary resilience.

The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity is also hand-signed and numbered by the artist.
