Quiet water and softened reflections give this original heavy body acrylic painting by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon a calm, intimate atmosphere despite the gentle movement flowing through the scene. The small mill and dam become part of a layered composition where subtle ripples, reflected light, and carefully observed detail draw the eye gradually across the landscape.

This piece depicts a mill and a small dam. While this painting was completed on a smaller canvas, there is plenty of engaging and emotive detail for the eye to study. The water seems almost motionless except for the subtle waves caused by the water falling over the dam. The reflection ripples softly; the image looks as though it was pulled across the water like delicate fabric. To add dimension to this detailed composition, highlights were carefully added throughout the canvas, helping the reflected light and layered textures emerge naturally within the composition.

The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity is also hand-signed and numbered by the artist.
Part of Jeff Dillon’s ongoing body of original paintings as a contemporary Canadian landscape artist based in Ontario, Canada.
