Commissioned as a deeply personal piece, this original heavy body acrylic painting by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon reflects both the architectural strength and emotional significance of Scotland’s historic Forth Bridge. Rising across the water with its unmistakable cantilever structure, the bridge carries not only the legacy of railway engineering, but also the memories and experiences tied to journeys once taken across it.

The Forth Bridge is a celebrated Scottish landmark, this painting preserves this timeless landmark. This painting having been commissioned by an adoring wife for her Scottish husband. He did his degree in electrical engineering and travelled by train on the Forth Rail Bridge.

The Forth Bridge, a symbol of Scotland and an emblematic achievement in railway engineering history, stands proudly even to this day. When constructed over 130 years ago it marked the first use of steel as Britain’s foremost building material while also opening up continuous East Coast rail routes from London to Aberdeen. Earning its place within the pantheon of cantilever trussed bridges worldwide for both passengers and freight alike; today it remains largely unchanged since opened – authentic form and design coupled with only minimal changes made to materials and substance meaning that function continues as intended by those who originally built her.

The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity is also hand-signed and numbered by the artist.
