The shift between sunset and moonlight unfolds gradually in this original heavy body acrylic painting by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon, where warm evening colour gives way to the cooler tones of approaching night. Snow-covered trees, layered winter shadows, and the first emerging stars create a landscape suspended between the fading glow of day and the quiet stillness of evening.

In this artwork, it feels like a dream, capturing the enchantment of a winter evening. The landscape is covered in a new layer of snow. As the day ends earlier, the warm, golden light of the setting sun contrasts with the cool, silvery moonlight already high in the sky. The sky turns into a masterpiece of changing colours, from the warm oranges and yellows of the fading sun to the deep teals and blues of the approaching night, where the earliest stars start to shimmer brighter. Shadows create a mix of light and dark, with the sun casting long, diminishing shadows and the moon giving off a gentler, silver radiance. The snow-covered trees seem delicate in this play of light. This is a peaceful transition from day to night during winter. I personally find night to be the most captivating.
