Night settles differently at Lake Louise. The reflections deepen, the shoreline quiets, and the surrounding mountains begin holding onto the last remaining light. In this original heavy body acrylic painting on canvas, Canadian artist Jeff Dillon brings together glacier-fed water, moonlit peaks, and the stillness that arrives after a long day spent on the lake. Layered brushwork and softened movement across the water allow the scene to remain calm and open without losing the structure of the surrounding landscape.

This painting came from the feeling that settles in once the activity on the lake finally fades out for the evening. The red canoes sit pulled along the shoreline while the Boathouse glows softly against the darker water and trees. Above it all, the mountains begin disappearing into shadow except where the remaining light still catches the glacier and upper ridges. The moon itself sits outside the frame, but you can feel its presence across the lake surface and in the reflections moving through the water. What stayed with me most was how quiet everything became once night fully settled in. The lake almost seemed to pause for a while.
