High above Mount Hood National Forest near the summit of Bull of the Woods Wilderness, this original heavy body acrylic painting on canvas by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon captures the isolation and fading light surrounding a remote wilderness lookout. Built through layered colour, shifting atmosphere, and expressive brushwork, the painting holds onto the quiet tension between presence and disappearance as evening settles across the landscape.

This scene stayed with me long after I left it. The lookout stood alone against the sky with very little around it except wind, distant mountain light, and the sound of the trees moving below. One pine leaned hard into the weather near the edge of the ridge, shaped by years of exposure. The tower itself was lost in the Bull Complex wildfire the following summer, which changed the way I looked at the painting afterward. What felt quiet at the time now feels temporary too. You can still see the mountain in the distance, but most of what I remember from being there was the silence and the feeling that everything had slowed down for a while.

The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity is also hand-signed and numbered by the artist.
