Morning stillness settles across Garibaldi Lake in this original heavy body acrylic painting by Canadian artist Jeff Dillon, inspired by the protected wilderness of Garibaldi Provincial Park in British Columbia, Canada. Reflections from the shoreline evergreens move softly across the calm water while distant mountains, sweeping clouds, and layered atmospheric light draw the eye gradually toward the centre of the composition.

This painting is called “Introspection”, and captures the idyllic beauty of Garibaldi Lake, in British Columbia, Canada. This lake lies within the Garibaldi Provincial Park, which is a protected area, and home to breathtaking features such as mountains, glaciers, forests, abundant wildflowers, meadows, and waterfalls.

The sky, mountains, lake, and shorelines guide your eye inward through the composition, while first light touches the evergreens along the shoreline and reflects softly across the water. The lake remains nearly motionless, interrupted only by the slightest ripple against an otherwise mirror-like surface. Layered translucent applications of paint were used to create the soft movement of clouds and the subtle atmospheric transitions throughout the landscape.
